Aidar Zakirov Zagitovich

... is the chair of the Department of Stage Movement at the the Russian Institute of Theatre Arts - GITIS. Zakirov is the leading Russian director of the physical theatre, teacher and choreographer of stage fighting, works as a stuntman in cinema production. He is the director of the international festival of theatre fencing.
Training at the Department of Stage Movement is based on Stanislavsky’s system and Meyerhold’s theory. The most important tasks of the department under Zakirov’s leadership are: developing the basic psycho-physical abilities of actors and directors, encouraging the abilities and needs for physical expressiveness in theatre creation, conveying knowledge and skills, constructing movement in space, discovering individual techniques of actors and using the principles of biomechanics.

A practical workshop of stage movement is oriented to the understanding and use of physical stage expression. It includes the following topics: fundamentals, individualisation, training, skills, conflict, thematisation.
